Conversion notes

  • Length & weight use internationally defined factors (1 inch = 2.54 cm exactly; 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg exactly).
  • Temperature converts between Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin with the standard formulas.
  • Data offers both decimal units (KB = 1,000 bytes, used by storage makers and networks) and binary units (KiB = 1,024 bytes, used by operating systems) — the classic source of “missing” disk space. Our metric vs. imperial guide explains the systems behind the numbers.

Unit converter FAQ

KB (kilobyte) is decimal: 1,000 bytes — the unit hard-drive makers and network speeds use. KiB (kibibyte) is binary: 1,024 bytes — the unit your operating system usually means. That 2.4% gap compounds: it is why a “1 TB” drive shows as ~931 GiB.
Select the Temperature tab, enter your value, set From to °F and To to °C. The formula is (°F − 32) × 5/9 — so 68°F becomes 20°C.
Yes for the units offered: imperial length and weight units are legally defined in metric terms (e.g., 1 inch = 2.54 cm exactly), and data units use exact powers of 1,000 or 1,024. Results are rounded to 6 significant digits for display.
